Crystal Coast Artificial Reef Association

The Formation Of A New Association That Will Benefit Local Divers And Fishermen

January 30, 2003  -- Area dive shops and dive boat owners have formed a new artificial reef association.
The new association proposed January 30, 2003 in order to organize an artificial reef association to raise funds and awareness of further development of artificial reefs and scuba tourism off the Crystal Coast. The goal will be accomplished with clean and safe shipwrecks for divers and fishermen. The association is open to all members of the community, divers, fisherman, waterman, boat owners and nature lovers.

Participants in the association are: Olympus Dive Center of Morehead City, Discovery Diving of Beaufort and Divocean Dive Center of Atlantic Beach.

In addition to the three dive centers all area dive charter boats are participants: Olympus, Midnight Express, Outrageous V. Outrageous VI, Sea Quest, Captain ‘s Lady, Sea Tails, Divocean, Pelican, Atlantis IV and Diver Down.

The association will be working closely with NC Division of Marine Fisheries artificial
reef coordinator, Jim Francisconi and area sport fishing associations.
